Land Use

Many homes are surrounded by a lawn or some other land that separates buildings from one another. Land use has a significant environmental impact, and it is important that we make that impact positive.

For most places in the US, having a traditional lawn is the norm. However, there are numerous environmental problems associated with traditional lawns. Luckily, there are several options for using your land more sustainably.

Understanding Zoning

zoningThe primary way land use is controlled is through a set of municipal laws called zoning code. A zoning code specifies ways in which land can and cannot be used, and sets regulations for what sort of buildings can be built where and what they can be used for.

Using your Roof
